I really want some pet fish but have never owned any before?

ok i like fish and i find watching them relaxing

im thinking of getting a few

which fish would be best for me?

i do own a cat so what kinda tank would i need to keep them in?

any advice would be great

ok for relaxing fish try a

40 gallon

heated

filtered

and aerated

with dark gravel

and live plants

for fish get

6 zebra danios

1 betta

6 neon tetras

3 corydoras

3 male guppies

and

a bristlenose plecostomus

i have 2 cats and 4 aquariums

if you have a lid on it there should not be a problem

also read up on the fishless nitrogen cycle

but they are pretty and cute and tiny :D

keep them in a tank with a cover for it and make sure the tank is big so the cat doesn't knock it over.

tip: dont over feed the fish. the fishies dies faster if you feed them too much. and they will eat as long as you give them food >_> it's like they don't know how to stop eatting....

    Fish are really easy, but they die quickly. I had one Goldfish that lived for 14-years, but that was an exception. Mainly, they are not much fun.

the cat will probably leave them alone, get a tank with a lid. get a filter and an air pump. and make sure to let the water stand for atleast 3 days before putting in fish in it! the chlorine in the water burns them and makes them die!

Hi, I currently have a 350 ltr tropical tank.However have just brought a Vivo cold water aquarium for a little fun. It comes as a complete kit. Tells you when to feed, when to change the filter in fact it helps you all the way. It is advertised for kids but hey we are all young at heart. They are available on ebay. I got a complete set up with pumps, filter etc for £50.

These tanks can also be fitted with different themes - haunted house, space centre.  It is a smallish tank holds 25 ltrs.

I would get a betta, male or female, both are spunky and are entertaining to watch.  If you decide to get a betta, DO NOT put the male and female together.  I had many of them and they are easy to take care of.  All you need is a large vase, they are usually near betta stands, a bag of colored craft rocks/marbles/gems whatever, maybe a plant and a gallon of distilled water.
