  1. Honestly, I am a theatrical producer for the riddlesbrood theater company (In new jersey), and the best way to get experiance is to find a small company and offer to work free just to get involved.  Theatre unfortunately is a very political profession and who you know is important.  So in your 20's, try to meet, and know as many of the movers and shakers that you can in the industry.  oh yes, and a few other things...1] be prepared...know your lines 2] be part of the solution and not part of the problem...don't be a complainer.  And take risks on stage and don't worry about looking dumb...the more mistakes you make, the less scary it is when you make them...when your not scared at all...your there. good luck.

  2. First don't fall for any "make lots of money, no experience, free flight, etc" scams.

My advice: Network! Get to know the people who do the hiring. See alot of local theatre, then find a coffee house where the actors hang out, and go up to talk to them. You can talk about the shows you've seen with them in it. (All actors love to talk about themselves so it'll be easy to get a conversation going if you lead in with that).

You'll get one of two responses. An actor with a huge ego who'll give you one word answers- just finish the convo and move on. Or actor(s) who is a really great person who will be happy to tell you what they know- where to find auditions, great workshops, more amazing shows to see.

Once you have an idea of who, what, where & when; you can figure out how you'll be able to work your way up in the community.

  3. Alot of these questions appear on here but it really never is too late to get involved. There is nothing to stop you auditioning for drama school, dont worry about experience, drama schools want you see 'you' and if you have something they like u cud get in. That is a long-shot though. I would suggest looking at drama degrees at university and going for the most vocational and practical course and get some training. At the end of university hopefully you made some contacts and got some experience. Then go for post-graduate at drama school. It seems long and drawn out but its all worth if u get sumwhere. The days of walking into acting jobs are nearly long gone.

  4. I'm like you I'm in my mid teens and look 9 years old its a pain in the but.Why don't look for agents in your local area or look on the internet but be careful some sites give people  false hopes. Its good you have a bit of experience that's always a plus,it should make you more appealing to agents. It is hard to break into this business but just KEEP TRYING.Good luck
