I am 22 years old and would really need financial aid. Right now I have no job, my parents and I are not speaking either. As far as I know to get assistance, i would have to have their taxes for the FAFSA. However, they make too much for me to get assistance. I can't do it withouth their taxes until I am 25. What can I do?

  1. You can try to file for independency through your school's financial aid office.  Usually, you have to write a letter to the director of financial assistance stating why you are considered independent.  You'd then have to  provide as much supporting detail as possible.  If they approve u for it, u will only need your tax information.

  2. You can get financial aid regardless of your parents income in the form of student loans.  Call your parents and tell them your plans.  You WILL need their tax and income information, its the law.
