I really want to be a architect?

i really want to be an architect, im only 15 years old (female) and when im bored i design houses, rooms and i designed my bedroom and my bathroom before they were decorated so i no im good at it but my question is how to become better .. and how can i become a proper architect? thanks x

  1. The best part about architecture school is that the first two years, the core classes that you take can be applied to just about any other field of study.  So you can pursue it and if you don't like it, you can change your major.  Keep this in mind though, architecture school is definitely not easy and it takes 5 years to get your professional degree.

    Career wise, architects in training gets paid very very low wages.  You will have to take and pass a nine-part test in order to legally call yourself an architect.


  2. Pay attention to your geometry and calculus courses. Develop your perception of spacial relationships. Toy around often.

  3. doodling with interiors isn't necessarily the making of an architect.  architects have to know math, design principles, how concrete performs compared to wood or glass, etc.  it's a full 6-year program (master's) and you'll know when you're ready for college if this is what you want to pursue.  meantime take a lot of science and design classes.

  4. go to college.  it sounds like you might like being an interior designer.  it's sort of like a cross between an architect and a decorator.
