  1. s***w Boca, they suck.

Try GardenBurger. Their Flame Grillers patties are really good. If you haven't already, you need to try their BBQ riblets.

Just so you know, you don't need fake meat to be vegetarian and there are much healthier protein sources out there.

Bread, pasta, cereal, rice, beans, peas, lentils, nuts, seeds, fruits and veggies can easily offer everything that you need except B12.

All vegetarians should take a B12 supplement regularly since most people eat meat, dairy AND fortified cereals yet still have a B12 status that is lower than recommended.

It may help you if you see proof that vegan people have the same potential as anyone else.

If you need meat or dairy during any stage of your life or to live any certain lifestyle, why does the American Dietetic Association say otherwise?

  2. There are tons of mock meats on the market.  My favorites are Quorn and Boca.

  3. Congrats! your making a great decision!

boca is a company that makes vegetarian meat alts. You should try it, now I will be honest veggie meats dont really taste just like real meat, buts it definitely better for you!

    Here are some veggie companies

    morning star

    boca

    amy's(makes some)

there are lots more, but these are the ones I eat

You mabey should got to peta.org and order their vegetarian starter kit, its had recipes, alts, and stuff like that, and you dont need to eat lettuce all of the time lol Ive been vegetarian for about 3 years, and I think Ive eat lettuce about 30% of the time.

Also after eating vegetarian for about 3 weeks you wont crave meat anymore. Hope this helps.

  4. it is something you must have a strong desire for .Health is the main reason.I would try to do it in stages and see if you can stop eating meat all together. If it is for the animals sake , then I feel you have a duty to stop eating meat. You said you feel guilty, that is all the more reason to give it up.

  5. there are 100's of fake meats out there you just have to find one you like =^..^=

  6. It'll take a while to get the hang of what and how to cook things. When I first went veg, I ate alot of Boca Burgers (the original ones). Make sure you coat it with oil and fry it. Pack the burger with lots of your favorite stuff (mayo, pickles, etc.). Eventually you'll get used to the taste of healthier items (rather than meat), like tofu, and find things that you can put in sandwiches which you may not have ever thought of (like avocado and/or artichoke hearts).  There is also Tofurkey brand luncheon "meat" which is okay, not great. The peppered Tofurkey is decent and you can buy this at Trader Joe's, if there's one near your house. In fact, TJs has lots of veggie items.  Good luck!!

Boca is a brand name. It's a soy product, and unfortunately not easily digested by alot of people b/c it's so processed. However, it tastes YUMMY!
