I need some really heavy advice on acting. I'm sixteen years old and i really want to become an actress. I'm am shy sometimes though and for a while, quit thinking i could act. But then i found out a relative of mine is into acting, and works in a theater in New York right now. She was an extremely shy person, so I'm thinking i can make it like her if i try. I really don't want to be on a stage though. I want to be in movies, and TV shows. Disney and things like that. I know this is quite a stretch right now, especially since i've only been in one acting class so far. I feel i can really put effort in my characters, and be a great actress if i tried, so please help me. My parents don't have enough money to even get me known right now though. Some people are telling me to get some professional photos done and my parents cant pay for it! I herd Cameron Dias and other known actresses/actors started out with no experience at all. This is my dream. I really need some detailed helpful advice that can get me somewhere. And something down to earth that is possible for me to do since i have no money and i live in Texas. Thanks for any help.

  1. Well, if you can't have professional shots, try to get headshots. Like, really good pictures of your face upfront. I think it's 8 x 10 photos you need. Something like this :(it's Hayden Panettiere)

Just do the best you can.

Write a resume. List your name, and contact info. (Phone number, e-mail, address). List your eye colour, your height, the colour of your hair, and weight. Write what you have, in this case, your acting classes. List any school plays / musicals, etc, that you've done. Write down your hobbies, any talents you have. Singing, dancing, etc. Playing an instrument. Special skills. Submit it to local agencies in Texas.

Basically, get yourself known.. I know you have no money but some of this does require money, so try getting a job.

You know Monique Coleman from High School Musical? Well, anyway if you don't, she had to get a lot of jobs to support her acting career, so it's going to take some time. And hard work.

  2. you can check this site to see if they have any auditions in your area: hollywood-opportunities(dotcom).

  3. you should get headshots, resume, and submit it to local agencies

  4. ok, so im having the same problem. i really want to succeed as an actress, but what do u do?

i find that getting involved is the most helpfull tool. try to join a community theater group, or stay involved in school plays. even if its stage crew, getting ur name out there will help. u will find that more people will notice you and if you're any good, word of ur talent will spread.

    good luck! :D
