  1. I wear some of the best contacts out there and they cost $35.00 a box of 6. They are acuvue oaysis. They last 2 weeks but I keep them for a month. I have the same script in both eyes so one box last me 3 months. You can get Acuvue 2 for about $17.00 a box. Just keep in mind that wearing contacts is not all it is cracked up to be. I have been wearing them for 20 years. I got my first pair when I was 15 and it took me a year to get used to them. I had a friend who got contacts and she could never get used to them so she wasted her money on them. So if you want them plan to wear them at least 6 hours everyday until you get used to them. I am not kidding i would sit there for an hour putting in contacts because they just didnt feel right. I did this almost every day for about a year if not more because i was like you determined not to wear glasses.

  2. Eddie is right.  Daysoft are very good and you'll get the best price on their website but some opticians also sell them, depends where you live.  Even if you convince your mom...you still need to visit the optician.  If dailies are OK for you, then great - it's less hassle because you don't need to clean them and they're safer cos you never reuse them. P.S. if you can't get daily disposables and have to clean your lenses, the best current advice is to "rub and rinse", even if the cleaning solution says "no rub".

  3. This is tricky because you can't convince her that you can look after them properly until you get them. The best choice would be daily disposables because you don't have to look after them at all but they are also generally more expensive than monthly lenses. I used to use one day accuvue but I changed to daysoft because they are cheaper and I find them just as good. The problem is that you can only get them via the internet (as far as I know) so you would have to get prescribed another brand first and then change to them - but daysoft's webpage has a calculator to convert other brand lenses to the right type of theirs. See daysfoft.com for details.

The other thing is that you'll be very lucky if you can successfully wear contacts every day (especially to start with - they take some getting used to). So if your eyes get used to perfect vision with contacts you might struggle if you can't get your lenses in one day - so you'll need a pair of glasses for backup. But that isn't so bad - look how many attractive celebrities sometimes wear glasses. As you get used to contacts you'll be able to wear them more and more and you'll only need glasses for emergencies or to give your eyes a rest. Although one day lenses would be the best choice, monthly lenses have never been easier to care for because of the number of one step cleaning solutions that are available. I reckon contact lenses of any sort are probably easier to deal with than a hamster!
