I'm currently a junior in high school, taking SATs and all of that good stuff this year. My GPA is currently a 2.6, which will be raised to at least a 3.5 by the end of junior year now that I have reason to not slack off an be lazy when it comes to schoolwork. I'm not currently in any sports (and can't be, due to a medical condition) but I am joining a few of the community-helping clubs this year. I also have entered many writing/literature-orientated contests in the past where I have placed and have that in my folder.

I just want to know what I should be looking at for these last two years of high school and what I should aim for to make it more likely for me to get accepted, and it will definitely help me get motivated about school.

  1. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but realistically your GPA won't get up to a 3.5 by the end of the year. On the other hand, you can do many other things in order to get into BU. I'd say the most important thing would be to focus on the SATs, even if it means taking a class dedicated to scoring better. Most colleges, public and private, pay a great deal of attention to standardized testing scores, whether they admit it or not. Other than that, your idea to join community groups is a great idea. Colleges love to see that you enjoy volunteering in the community. And as for the sports aspect, don't worry about it. A college would much rather see you helping out your neighborhood than in a state championship basketball game. Good luck!

  2. work your *** off, really. the current senior classes over these 3 years are the biggest in the last decade or two and admissions are REALLY tough. My brother goes to BU and LOVES it but its REALLY hard to get into now. really really focus on grades. school clubs arent all theyre cracked up to be, but concentrate on community service and grades. my brother never played any sports either so dont worry about that

    best of luck!!!

  3. Get a 3.5 and 1800 on the SAT's and you should have no problem with BU.  Check out:
