I've ALWAYS loved singing. I'm 13 and have been singing since I was like 4. I really want to get serious about it. I'm going to take singing lessons, but what kind am I supposed to take? There is classical, Italian, etc. What should a beginner take? Also are there any techniques and exercises I could use to help make my voice better? Other than going up and down the scale. I kind of know this girl (Not personally) who is getting famous. I asked her if she has taken singing lessons and she said yes. She said that when you sing high notes your supposed to make a "Little pinch" in your stomach. What is she talking about? Also, could someone PLEASE tell me how to sing from my diaphragm? PLEASE?! Everytime I post a question in this section, hardly anyone answers. PLEASE ANSWER EVER IF YOU DON;'T KNOW HOW TO ANSWER MY QUESTION! I need all the advice I can get. Thanks! =]

P.S. I was in choir in 4th grade for half of the year, and in 7th grade for the whole year. This year (8th grade) I will be in choir for the second semester. In High School there is this thing called Mezzo Soprano. It's kind of like a choir but you have to audition. I'm sure I'll be able to get in because I've been told that I'm pretty good at singing. Now I KNOW I'm not great, so that's why I want to take lessons, etc! I'm also most likely going to join drama. I want to learn how to play the flute and piano too. Sound good? Thanks! =D

  2. I would suggest you try to get into the School for Performing Arts, in the San Diego Unified School District, apply now and every year til you get in.  Karaoke is a fun way to practice, get support, learn from others and see just what you want to sing and how you want to sing etc.  You can join our San Diego Karaoke Lovers meetup group, we'd be happy to have you and we frequently schedule events at kids friendly places, one of which is Tyler's Taste of Texas on 2nd St in El Cajon on Thursdays from 6 til 11 pm, you'll find us like one big family and very supportive.  Here's a link to join our Karaoke group:  http://karaoke.meetup.com/256/members/
