I really want to join gymnastics...

Question

Hey guys... im porbably one of the few guys in the world that like gymnastics and all... i found a gym nearby ask the price every... but im kind of scared to ask my parents.. any tips.. i mean im in love with flipping... i practice at home after months and got down some moves like handsprings but yeh... im 13 turning 14 any advice so i can ask my parents..

I'm a male gymanast and asking your parents is not as bad as it seems. My parents saw me flipping and stuff and asked me to take a gymnastics class. Just ask them if you can join the team. Most gymnasts are ripped so who won't admire them? I've told everyone at school and they have the most respect for me because I can do a lot of cool things, it's great at parties!

Nothing is wrong with a guy wanting to do gymnastics, plenty of guys do that at my high school, and they're all straight.

There's no reason to be ashamed in something that you love to do.

Go for it, and have fun.

Your parents SHOULD understand. Don't be afraid.

Just go ahead and ask them!  But in case they seem hesitant, be armed with some good reasons why they should let you:

The strength, flexibility and coordination you'll gain will help you with any other sport you might pursue.  

You'll get and awesome, muscular body which will help you gain confidence (and chicks).

It makes you smarter.  Fact: gymnasts have higher grade point averages than any other athletes.

You can be a part of your high school's gymnastics team, and maybe even do it in college.

It will keep you off the streets and out of trouble (haha).

It's better than sitting around playing video games.

It will keep you from flipping around on their furniture (maybe - haha).

It's fun and you know you'd really enjoy it, and surely they want you to be happy!
