  1.   Try looking for a general book on the art of drawing, There may even be a web site devoted to this discipline.

  2. attend a good art school. You can try copying from magazines, and other publications, but I think you have to have formal training with an instructor. There are many who are naturally gifted, and doesnt really need formal education - 'cept for the piece of paper validating their abilities, but the majority of practicing artists got their training through a school of sort.  By the way, there are plenty of great art schools online if you wish to pursue that route.

  3. i had this same question when i was younger. i would draw and it would look like c**p but i would see these amazing drawings on the internet and knew that i wanted to be able to draw just as good.

so i practiced as much as possible. i would draw everything i could. i drew chairs, cubes, cones, deer, anything. i would complete a drawing and keep it. after a few days i would look at the drawing and see mistakes that i would then correct.

then i got an account on deviantart.com and posted drawings as well as browsing the drawings. if i saw a nice drawing i looked at it then i would ask the artist how they did something specific. they would tell me and i would learn. people would comment on my drawings and tell me what looked wrong or how i could improve.

to get good at drawing it takes a lot of practice, learning, and time. its taken me years to get pretty good and i am still working to become better. always continue to practice, learn, and grow.

  4. Look around for images online, take note of what the artists do, and try to do the same. Or, you can look around for tutorials on how to draw. It will take a lot of time and practice, though, so don't get aggravated when you aren't at the level you want to draw at, just keep trying.

  5. Pick up a pencil or piece of charcoal, get outside and draw.  Draw trees and houses and fire hydrants.  Do very quick scribbled sketches of people you see out and about (these are called gestrure drawings.)  Also you can find many good online drawing tutorials -- all you have to do is type "how to draw people" in google.

You also have the best and most available model in the world right there. . . .YOU!  Sit in front of the mirror every day and just draw what you see.  I am not talking a balloon with eyes and a nose and mouth . . . I am talking look hard at yourself and draw the lines, angles, and shapes you see. . . even if you think they won't look like you!   Practice countour drawing as well. . . that is where you move your pencil on the paper around the outside edges of what you see, following it like you are tracing it, only on your paper,  and don't look at your paper.  The most accomplished artists in the world use this practice exercise to keep their observation skills sharp.

Another good practice exercise if you want your people to look more like people is to draw still life set-ups.  Arrange fruit, baseballs, books, eggs, hamburger buns. . . almost anything you can find that has a shape and shade or shadows . . . and set it up with the light coming from an angle so you have definite lights, highlights and shadows.

Once you have trained your eyes to see shapes, shadows, and volumes of forms, and trained yourself to add shading and highlights, you will be well on your way.  Bodies are made up of shapes that, once you learn to draw them separately, you can put together to make the human form.

    There you go!

  6. Start practicing in your spare time.

Good techniques for beginners include drawing on graph paper (take a reference picture and draw a grid on top of it then try to draw the same thing on your graph paper it gives you a better sence of lines shapes and how everything fits together gets you to focus on detail as well)

Another good idea is to try drawing a picture while looking at it upside down it gives you a new perspecitve and allows you to look at the shapes and lines in the image instead of the image is. ie you know what a face looks like but if you turn it upside down you focus more on the distance between the eyes nose and mouth shape of them etc. it alows you to see it for what it is not what you think it is

starting off just draw from reference pictures then you can grow to do more from life or your imagination

here's something for you to start off with and good luck
