I am 16, live in Northern California, and have absolutely no experience. This summer a friend and I want to take surfing lessons. Do you know any good surfing schools? (i guess that's what you'd call it). Also, I am terrified of waves. (i know, don't tell me i shouldn't learn to surf, i am fine once i am out there and i am hoping this will make me less afraid) So it would really help if the instructors were patient. Which beaches are best for beginners and what time of the summer is best? I'm hoping to take lessons in August, but June would work too.

  1. Best beaches to learn in the Northern-Central California area are Bolinas in Marin County and Cowells in Santa Cruz. Cowells is the best option I would say. Plenty of surf schools there. I took my wife there and she was standing the first day and getting some short rides. They shouldn't even schedule the lesson unless they think the conditions are right.

  2. Go sailing.i sail on the weekends all the time and i love it it so fun......i was selected as a back-up sailer for the Etchell worlds because i was so good they had to decide who whent or not.

  3. get a trainer..

  4. Stand on the board and go.. "woooooo" and swim mostly near SHARKS yeah..them things are very nice tutors!
