Pretty and pretty and martial arts don't mix.

I mean I don't mind getting bruised but this prejudice is really unfair.

Is martial arts only for uggly people? I mean why can't good looking people do it?

  1. maybe you should stick to mud wrestling

  2. Anyone can learn martial arts.  You do need to be aware of the risk of injury.  It happens.  Mistakes happen to anyone...especially students.  That doesn't mean you will lose teeth, but it does mean you might lose teeth.

I hope that you enjoy the training.  It takes time, discipline and dedication.  Most find it worthwhile.  Ask for references before beginning a program.  Be comfortable with the established goals.  Be sure that you can trust your instructor and his judgment.  Then go for it.  Maybe I'll take up wrestling....if I ever have the time.  That's another good form of self defense.  You can wrap your opponent up like a pretzel and not really hurt him.  The only catch is that you have to hang on until police or other help arrives.

  3. They say your to pretty but judging from your avatar you'd look like a bag of manure.

Not everyone who does martial arts is/are ugly, and saying your to pretty to do something is plain stupid, do what you wanna do and don't regret.

Might as well go back to Martin Luther Kings era and not allow people to do stuff or go places because of what they have on the outside.

  4. Not at all marital arts is for all ages , sizes and colours, currently i study wing chun and i have found myself to be pretty good looking but learning a martial art has nothing to do with fighting or learning how to fight martial arts are more about making good use of your body ,being healthy , being happy and most importantly having self-respect and self-discipline and then after all of that comes the fighting techniques , so i hope you follow your heart and make any decision you feel right.

  5. Perhaps the same people telling you that you are too pretty to do martial arts are some of the same kind of people that would want to get the least resistance out of you to take advantage of you. Judging by what you said in your question, I would think that sooner or later your attitude will get you into a fight. Get to a dojo right away. I recently started training at Gracie Barra and there are a few very attractive women there. They have very nice personalities and train hard. Beauty (real or imagined) has nothing to do with it.

  6. Holy fu*knuggets that's insulting! I don't think I'm too ugly, and I get craked in the jaw, kicked in the thigh, and DDT'd all the time!

  7. Gina Careno is a very attractive lady. My wife is hot and practices boxing and kick boxing.

  8. We all look pretty much the same on a city street if the electricity goes out!

    i.e.; Targets!

  9. Your question is overly so rude and goes along the strands of bias , i mean have you ever been martial arts to call the people ugly.

I won't even use my time or intelluct to answer this question.

  10. well first you need to get over yourself. who takes 'you can't because you're too pretty' seriously?

  11. martial art is for very attractive people too. just look at me. or are you saying I am ugly

  12. Check out a grappling art.  The worse thing you can get (aside from staph and ringworm if you aren't hygienic enough) is cauliflower ear, which you can drain, meaning, it's really not a problem.

See:  Kyra Gracie if you want to debate whether or not there are 'beautiful people' in martial arts.

Legitimate striking arts require lots of sparring...which can mess up your looks.

  13. Two words: Michelle Yeoh

And don't worry, the world is full of stupid people.  You can't let them get you down.

  14. Look up Gina Carano

  15. don't listen to what they're saying. martial arts is for everyone. there are A LOT of good looking people at my karate school, including me (=

  16. You're pretty alright.  Pretty light in the head if you prefer to listen to what other people say over what you really want.

  17. That is ridiculous! Whoever told you that is probably joking. If you want to do it, then go for it! It will teach you discipline, increase your self-esteem, determination and strength, you'll make new friends and you will have loads of fun doing it.

  18. dont be stupid!

  19. that's bull.  start learning it now.  i go to a dojo (martial arts practice place) several times a week and there are beautiful women there.  The women are a minority, but they are there.  Don't listen to other people who try to stop you from doing what you want.  Go for your dreams.

  20. That question explains why incest isn't a good thing

  21. You shouldn't listen to nonsense like that.  I can see that you are aware that it's nonsense so just follow your heart and DO martial arts.

It will benefit you in many ways and you 'won't look back.

I myself was in a similar situation except that I also had a lot of self-doubt to contend with.

You at least seem to know what you want, so all I can say is

    YOU GO GIRL!!!

    All the best.

  22. are u serious

  23. Martial arts is for everyone! It will make you more confident and teach you some self defense in case your pretty face gets you in trouble or a bad situation. It is an unfair prejudice and if you want to train in the MA you should go for it. Make sure you check out several schools and find the one you like the best. Maybe see if you can find a woman instructor that you relate too. I have trained with many women of all shapes and sizes and you can train too if you want too. Good Luck in your Martial Arts Career!

  24. Bollocks! Go and learn a martial art. Don't let other people stop you from doing what you want to do. Saying that you can't fight because you're "too pretty" is a completely chauvinistic remark. What does looks have to do with your fighting ability? Julie Cross is a world champion at taekwondo and she looks great. Never put up with that kind of prejudice because it's a sheer insult.
