Question:

I really want to learn to SALSA dance, but is this lame?

I can't find anyone who is interested in going. I don't know how to salsa. There's this one club that has a Salsa night I think every other week. They start the party at 10, and they give free salsa lessons at 9. I don't have anyone to go with, so I'd have to go by myself. Is it lame to go to the lessons or to go to the real thing at 10 o'clock alone?

Honest answers or suggestions please. Thanks to all.

  1. Have you ever thought of doing online salsa dancing lessons? I know it's not the same as getting real practice with a partner, but you might feel better if you watched some online lessons first and then went to the party at 10. There's some videos in the source link. Good luck!

  2. I don't know much but I go out and have fun.  If you want to join me, e-mail me.  Don't feel bad, you are not alone.

  3. just go for it cuz salsa rocks

  4. go to the lesson, after all, everyone there will be there the same as you- to learn some salsa, which does take some practice to learn, as the timing can be a bit confusing. Once you know how, and get used to the crowd, you can skip the lesson, no-one likes dancing with a new beginner.

  5. my sis brings me to the free lessons nearly every time i go with her to salsa and she has been dancing for years.  most of the clubs around here do the same thing with the lesson first, then the open dancing.  i am nervous dancing with strangers, but i have a blast every time.  just go and have fun- salsa is a great social dance and i absolutely love it, regardless of how terrible i am at it on any given evening.  go to the lesson, learn or refresh on the dance moves, and then have fun when the party starts!

  6. You can go by yourself and meet new friends.  Take the free dance lessons.  Someone will "volunteer" to partner you.  With the lessons, you'll be learning something new, and dancing with a partner you might even meet a cute guy!

  7. Go to the lessons. There will be lots of people there without partners and if they're anything like any classes I have been to, you'll switch round and get to dance with lots of people anyway.

Salsa is definitely not lame. It's great fun and  good starting point for learning other partner dances. Go for it!
