Question

I want to know how the american people live. I know I do a strange question, but I'm italian and I wanna know a lot of things. Lots of italians who have been in USA say to me there are ugly places where there are killers and similar people. I'm sorry, but I don't know really the things and for this cause I ask you. bye My name's Giovanni. I wanted to say goodbye to everybody and I wanna clear explanation!!!!!

there are good and bad places anywhere! for example, where I live is a good, fun, and safe neighborhood for the most part.  but across the bay is a totally different world with high rate of mostly gang related crimes. but then again, there are sections of that city (oakland) that are fun and safe with nice neighborhoods and high end businesses.

It depends where you live in America.  Sure there are bad neighborhoods and there are good.  Just like there is where you are from probably.  For instance I live in Chicago.  We have bad neighborhoods where there are people who will rob you or do whatever.  But we have nice neighborhoods were kids play outside and people go to work, go for their morning jog, many restaurants and stores where people shop and eat, and a lot of fun things to do and a beautiful city.

I also have a house in FL in a section where it is all retired and they have virtually no crime at all.  They have live entertainment in the town square every night and lots to eat and shopping.

I have family in Alaska with no crime hardly either where they enjoy fishing and hunting and like the comfort of small towns and the amazing scenery of the Pacific, glaciers, mountains, volcanoes, and wildlife it has to offer.  

I have family in New York.  They live a mostly suburban life where you go to work, raise your children, and enjoy what the city has to offer.  In bigger cities mostly you want to be aware of your surroundings, there are so many people you will always find the good and the bad.

I hope this answers your question.  USA has a lot of great things to offer from state to state.  Just as I'm sure your country does as well!

Gio, It seems you have very limited information about America.  Try Googling (www.google.com) some major cities and click on the photos and look at some of the beauty we are surrounded by here in the USA.  Look at San Francisco, Dallas, Manhattan, or little towns like Sonoma, Poway, Pierre. Check out Yosemite, Grand Canyon, the Tetons, Yellowstone, the Rockie Mountains, the Pacific coast, the Atlantic coast, the Arizona desert, the wide open spaces of Montana, the dazzle of Times Square the majesty of the Golden Gate bridge.  But mostly the beauty of this country lies in her people. Yes, there are those who fail to grasp the beauty and live like they must ruin life for anyone they choose, but they are in the minority.  Most people here are grateful for the country in which they live, the natural and cultural beauty and freedom.

Never judge anything by what someone else tells you--dig in and find out for yourself!

Well be careful you befriend. The USA is a very beautiful place, with lots of nice good people. Just stick with fun, happy go lucky people.

We live like everyone else in the world.

We have good people, we have bad people and we have a large amount of grey areas.

I've lived in Sardinia and Sicily as well as 6 different places in the USA.  The average person in the USA, on a person by person basis is the same as the average person in Italy.  We have families, some families get along wonderfully, some families fight horribly.  Some people love the government, military and cops.  Some people like Military and cops but not government.  Others don't like any of them.

Our Urban areas can get rough, but no rougher than Palermo.  People in our cities tend to drive a little safer than in Italian cities, but that's mostly because we have less scooters and mopeds to avoid.

We eat a greater variety of food types than the average Italian.  I had Italian last night, mexican for lunch, a good old American burger for dinner and am now snacking on some British potato chips.  I'm debating on Thai or Russian for dinner with friends tomorrow.

There are beautiful places here where some people do not even lock their doors and will walk around alone at night in the dark.  There are also places were people have multiple locks and alarms, where people are afraid to walk to the corner store for bread if it even slightly dark outside.  That said though, even in the rough and dangerous places, there are still good people there.  I live in a place where hearing gun shots is normal, but I like to think of myself as nice and I know my super and several other tenants are just nice people struggling to get by...
