  1. If it is not something you sent, the original message may have generated by a spam bot.  If you have ever received spam at your e-mail address before, it could be from anywhere (even inadvertantly from an infected friend with your e-mail address in their address book). The source likely forged your address as the &quot;From:&quot;.

    But unless the error message included full headers from the original message, or those headers are still in the bounced mail headers and you know how to view/interpret full mail headers, it may be difficult to tell where it originated from.  Probably nothing to worry about unless something indicates it originated from your public IP address (your internet connection).  Some spam/worms actually simulate a bounce error to try to get through spam/anti-virus filters.
