I receive posting from a group but am unable to download files. When I register it say that I am not a member

I would recommend getting in touch with the owner of the group to let them know what's going on.  The e-mail address for the owner of the group will look something like this: [e-mail]

If you can't get a response from the owner then I would recommend contacting a Yahoo Groups customer service representative to see if they can help you to figure out what could be going on.
