I received a Canon PowerShot

Question

I received a Canon PowerShot SD870IS Digital ELPH as a present for Christmas. Unfortunately, my apartment caught fire three weeks ago. My Camera was in its case. the case is burnt on the outside and the camera looked dirty on the outside. It seems to be working but I am just worried that there might be some more damage in the inside. Shall I send it to Canon for an overhaul? What do you suggest? I cleaned the outside but I am still not sure. Please help!
