The letter stated that we should receive the check by 6-20-2008 BUT we owe back taxes which we have been making payments on. Should I expect a check and look for it to arrive within the next few days OR are they going to keep it an apply it to the back taxes owed? If I received the letter stating it would be sent and they are not sending one then why didn't they just send a letter stating that the amount would be applied to the back taxes owed?

  1. If you are regularly making back payments, you should receive the rebate check.

The rebate payment is equal the amount of tax liability on the return (tax liability on the return Form 1040 line 46 or Form 1040A line 28) with a minimum amount of $300 and a maximum amount of $600 for individuals.

  2. No, if you owe back taxes it will be taken and applied to what you  owe.  The letter you got tells you how much will be applied.  You'll get another letter telling you that it will be applied to your back taxes rather than being sent to you.

  3. My Wife Owed 500.00 on back taxes But Was Told That the Stimulus Check was totally separate BY my tax man BUT we got her check in the mail today like they said She would it was freaking 93.00 which means the Sob got there money which Im thinking more and more this stimulus c**p is all some big rigged scheme to get there money back
