I recenlty bought a new canon eos 40d.?

Question

i bought it @ abesofmaine.com. should i be worried for buying anything out of california?? and can anyone tell me if eos 40d is worth the price i paid? and why? 10pts!

dude, I would be VERY careful of abesofmaine.  There is a reason abes of maine is no longer in maine.  They are well known for selling grey market goods.  Often times warrantys will not be honored for grey market goods.  The 40 D (body only) goes for $1,139 from a very reputable internet resaler.  They are offering a $200 instant rebate, so a final price of $939.  

Chances are if your deal was much less than that, you bought grey market.  good luck with it.

If I recall correctly, Abes of Maine is a brick-and-mortar somewhere in New Jersey, not California. The store may have warehouses there though.

It helps if you tell us what price you paid but AoM usually competes down to the dollar for the lowest price with online stores like BuyDig so the price you got is probably one of the lowest.

Abes' track service is somewhat spotty though from what I've read so your mileage may vary.

Abes has been in business for a very long time and I myself have only placed an order with them over 25 years ago. I have never ordered from them since because the first thing they asked was my credit card info, I did not even get a chance to tell the guy what I wanted to order.

They have never treated me like that at B&H Photo, respect is how I was treated, very professional everytime.

The D40 is a great DSLR from Canon though I own a XTi and the next will be a D5.
