I'm worried that I'll lose a bunch of weight which I don't want to do. What can I eat that will make sure I get enough calories everyday without eating a bunch of junk food? Also I've been feeling kind of tired and weak and sick lately. Is it because I'm not eating any meat?

  1. you could not be getting enough protein, or iron, or vitamins. Maybe talk to a dietician or look up proper vegetarian foods online. You have to be careful about getting the right proteins--plant foods arent a complete protein, like meat is, so you have to eat a combination of different protein sources (like beans and rice) to get a complete protein!

  2. you can get all kinds of recipes for pancakes, tofu scrambles, and all kinds of stuff.. Eat whole wheat pastas, veggie burgers with veganaise, fresh veggies with hummus, soy milk, flax or oat or bran cereals, clif bars, bake some vegan banana bread. Eat the same exact foods you eat now, just veganize them. Thats what I do and my weight has stayed the same. If you feel sick you might not be eating the right foods or getting enough nutrients. Take a multi vitamin and be sure to eat plenty of whole grains, fruits, nuts, vegetables (especially dark leafy greens) and you should feel great..

  3. Being a vegan is more complicated than just knowing about calories. You have to know how to balance foods and consume them in combinations that allow you to maximize the nutritional value your body is able to absorb. If you are feeling weak it is not because of a lack of meat, it is a lack of proper nutrition.

  5. feeling week and tired is probably your imagination UNLESS you are eating all junk.  Common sense, eat a cereals that don't contain dairy with soy or rice milk.  Eat simple proteins from beans and legumes, vegetables and fruits.  Limit sweets and fats and there you have it the perfect diet.

You will not last long as a vegan if you place negativity on it early on -- unless of course you want to say it is poor for your health

    which it is not

Also most vegans maintain weight very well provided they dont eat poorly

  6. Why did you become a vegan?

  7. flaxseed meal

    peanuts

    tofu, soy milk

    granola

    dry fruits

i felt weak and tired too when i decreased my meat intake. i suppose if you get enough protein you'll be okay but i would check with a nutritionist on what diet is best for you just in case. or go by instinct and if you feel that not eating meat is making you sick, by all means eat meat. your health is first.
