  1. it gets hard when ur stuck with nasty lettuce and you see some one eating a juicy hamburger or hotdog, it makes you so jealus and you are just craving it like a dog that is watching a human eating while it looks at him or her, thats when it gets hard lol

  2. Sweetie, it just gets easier and easier over time.

  3. Good for you!!!!

It was never hard for me - but then again, I've been veg ever since age 9.

Back then, there used to be a few times where I'd get these CRAVINGS, though, sadly. It was always for either salami or bacon - and I'd get these deathly cravings that made me roll on the ground and twitch because I wanted it soooooo bad (only joking, it wasn't that bad! =P).

I think it's awesome that you're becoming veg - just stick it out through the tough parts in the beginning, then it's smooooooth sailing after that (besides dealing with the ignorant misinformed losers out there who don't understand).

Oh and here's a great link for dealing with those aforementioned ignornant misinformed -

    GOOD LUCK!

  4. 1.social gathering ( weddings/baptismals etc)

    2.date with a girl/boy who hates veggies

3.friends that says u need to eat meat

4.seasonal veggies... as for me i live in the philipines

we have different types of veggies

im happy for you... ive been a vegan for 9 years... the rewards are great...

  5. it depends, if you have to confront your friends about it, and still don't have too many combinations to make, i'd say about two days, before you go cravin for some meat, believe me, i tried it when i was 6, then when i was 8, and now i'm 13, and still regret those times

  6. it's been around 3weeks for me now and it's getting hard now:|

the first week was easy for me to but a little bit after it got hard but ah i guess just learn to get use to it.

  7. For me, it was easy too and until today, it is not a problem at all, 15yrs just past  : )

Hope you have a easy one too.

  8. Depending on your reasons for becoming vegetarian, it may never become a difficult task. I've been living a vegetarian lifestyle for over two years and have not once been tempted to eat meat (although I occasionally eat fish). I stopped eating meat after someone handed me a pamphlet: http://www.veganoutreach.org/whyvegan/

I suggest downloading it as well as the Guide to Cruelty-Free Eating. Once I learned where my food came from and how it was processed, I lost all desire for meat. There are plenty of good substitutes out there to fulfill any craving. I've felt so much healthier since making the decision and the fact that it's better for the environment is icing on the cake. Good luck to you!

  9. Ever thing is easy at first, but it will get tough went ever one around u eats meat. One of the biggest things i had to learn was going to a BBQ TAKE YOUR OWN FOOD. it will take your friends a little while to remember u don't eat meat,  they will come around with lots of support it helps.  first 2 months tough, meat and potatoes now i can't stand the smell of meat cooking. 14 years without it, meat would make me sick (hurl).

  10. I would say the worst is when you get involved in social eating situations.  You might find the Fourth of July hard (if you're American) because of the barbecues.

Every time you read the ingredients on something you think is safe, and it turns out it has gelatin or anchovies, is pretty frustrating.

If you buy your own food, and are a decent cook, you shouldn't have too many problems though.

Congratulations on going vegetarian, and good luck!

  11. I actually never found it hard! It can be easy to slip up during the first few weeks, say,if you're with friends and they all go to McDonalds and ask you what you want. But other than things like that,i never missed/miss eating meat.

The vegetarian alternatives are amazing, and i love being vegetarian and love eating guilt-free.

But you do get used to it. Because i've been veggie for so long, people who eat meat don't seem "normal" to me" (Like, how to meat-eaters,people who don't eat meat aren't "normal!)

And to kyukyu99 : I'm Type 1 diabetic, and me being vegetarian never harmed me. Stopping eating meat actually HELPED my control over my diabetes.

Meat isn't a carb,so not eating it won't effect your diabetes at all.

  12. It really depends on you. Some people may find it hard during the holidays when their is an abundance of food with meat in it. Depending on how you ate before and what you are eating now, would really determine how hard it is. If you really liked turkey on Thanksgiving, than it may be a hard day for you, but if you can find a great alternative(I know I have), it is not a hard day at all.

I never really found it hard, it was a little challenging in the beginning, just b/c I was learning what to eat, and how to cook it. I was a huge fast food junkie, and switching over to home cooked meals(actually cooking them myself) was more difficult at first. I didn't miss the burger at McDonald's, I missed being able to get dinner in 5 min or less after a busy day at work. That soon went away, as I learned more recipes, I found that there were plenty quick 10 min meals that I could cook, and it was a lot healthier.

Being a vegetarian is easy, it is no different than other persons diets, except no meat. I doesn't really take any more planning than a proper omnivore diet should.

  13. It is only as hard as you let it/allow it to be.

Your still eating all the very same basic foods that you did before - except meat/byproducts.

Just make sure that you are eating well balanced meals and it really never should be hard.

  14. Every year, I stop eating meat for one month, usually June.  Right now I am dealing with diabetes, so this year I am skipping it. Anyway, I was always ok until around the third week.  Then I started going crazy, would start to really crave it, and would even start to consider giving in (I never did though).  I am not sure if it gets easier after that though, as after one month I always started eating meat again!  Good luck with it!

  15. If you are aware of a large variety of vegetarian/ vegan dishes, then it is easier to give up. You don't have to eat meat in order to have a delicious meal.

Yes, it can be tempting, but you have to have will power. I usually thing of how those poor animals and put into slavery and tortured their whole lives; also how a high percentage of them are sick before they are slaughtered, that steak doesn't look so juicy then.
