Question:

I recently bought a SanDisk 4GB SDHC Memory Card from AMAZON, I can't get it to work!?

I bought a SanDisk SDSDB-4096-A11 4GB SDHC Memory Card off of amazon. I thought it would be safe, not a clone, as it was from 'warehouse_deals' which is directly amazon. I bought a CD around then that was wonderful, and thought my memory card would be also. When I put it in my camera, it reads 'memory card error', both in locked and non-locked position. When I put it into the built in card reader my vista has, it dosn't reconize it, and then freezes up the computer. It dosn't reconize it with my external card reader either. I would really like to get it to work, but i've tried allot.

Should I

-contact sandisk?

-return the card?

-try it on another computer?

or what? I bought a similar card off of ebay and returned it because of the same issues, and really don't want to have to again. I thought I could trust amazon, but my vista does get kinda weird. I am surprizes with my camera... IDEAS?

Thank you,

Hannah

  1. There are lots of fakes in amazon/ebay, but when you got them, it should serve its purpose. When its a memory card, it should function as a memory card, otherwise the seller will lose credibility, but I am not expecting them to be genuine.

My 2006 PC's media reader don't detect over 2gigs, and one of my camera will only detect 1gig until I updated the firmware and it now recognizes higher capacity SD's.

So, just try other computer or try updating your media readers firmware and driver, also your camera should have the newest firmware installed. Camera's bought a year ago may not recognize 4gigs.

If it was mine I'll go to bestbuy or circuit city and insert that SD into their display laptops so that I can confirm that its really defective. If a sales person interupts me, then I'll say that I'm looking for a laptop that reads 4gigs of SDHC..

also try inserting it to your media reader and right click format before it will display "unrecognized"...see if it formats and try in your camera again.

  2. I have had problems with SanDisk Memory Cards crapping out on me before.  In my case it worked for awhile and then the same thing happened, the camera wouldn't recognize it, nor would the computer.  You might be able to format the card, try.  But I would contact sandisk.  Count yourself lucky, when mine stopped working after I had been using it for awhile it contained 100 or so pictures of my newborn son, only some of which I had backed-up!  Very frustrating!

  3. Contact the guy u bought it from.

  4. try another computer, than send it back if it still doesnt work. did you keep your packing slip? amazon is spectacular about returns and such. just try another computer and see. good luck!
