I recently bought a sony gc1 net-sharing cam andi cant edit my videos with movie maker?

it keeps saying this : The file C:\Users\user\Videos\New Folder\M4V00232.MP4 cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again.

does anyone kno whow i can edit my videos

  1. There is very nice codec package named KLM codecs, it works under both Vista and XP and has most if not all possible and impossible video codecs. So I would start with that one, ere is the link:

    If that doesn't work, here is another insight - mp4 is extension used when I convert movies for my iPod meaning it could (and should) be opened in QuickTime. Try to install that. Here is your link:

    Codecs have one nice behavior - if you install one codec for one software, it usually works in all programs who might want to use it. So after installing QT the video should work in moviemaker (assuming the mp4 format was the one for QT )
