Question:

I recently broke a very special acrylic bracelet in two. How do I glue it back together?

It is not a clean break, there are rough edges which I think would help with gluing it back together. The bracelet isn't all acrylic. It has floating stone flowers inside of clear acrylic and so the entire surface I would be gluing would be part stone and part acrylic.

Its very important that the glue dries incredible clear and does not damage the bracelet in any way.

Also: Where could I purchase this kind of glue and how much does it cost?

Please if you could answer any or all of my questions it would be greatly appreciated because this bracelet is very special to me and I would like to have it fixed.

Thank you :)

  1. E-6000 is a glue that comes in a tube and dries clear and VERY strong. I use it for craft work that must be water resistant and CLEAR, and I can buy it not only at hobby stores like Hobby Lobby (in the jewelry dept), but also at Walmart (craft dept.).

It takes a while to dry so that if you must re-position the pieces, you can.

When I use it for attaching paper to glass, I press the pieces together, and if any oozes out I just wipe it off with tissue before it dries.

It DOES, however, need to be used where there is plenty of ventilation. Because it can be used in many applications, it is my glue of choice for practically everything.

  2. The problem you have is the air in the glue joint will cause it to be cloudy. I have made doublets and triplets with opal with quartizes caps. They have to be very flat and laped to minamize the thickness of the glue layer. This may not help you with your problem but two part epoxey is what I use.

  3. I think the best way to glue it back is to use Aleene's Tacky Glue. It comes in a brown bottle, and you can get it at Michael's.

Not sure about the price but it's probably around $5. Hope this helps!
