the stock is for 10 shares of a still existing company and has since split twice. I use to receive dividends but haven't for 12 years. I know I cashed alot of the certificates in but I cant tell if this certificate is still valid

  1. Check with the transfer agent for the company.  If they have a website it will probably have that information in their investor relations section. Or check with a broker.

  2. it should still be valid if the company still holds the same shares of stock

  3. what stock? probably. maybe youre lucky and its from BP or Google.

  4. On the front of the certificate you will see the name of the transfer agent.  Contact them, giving them the certificate number and they will be able to tell you if the certificate is still valid

If you have a brokerage firm, you can call them, they have a service that verifies all certificates, or at the least contact the transfer agent for you.   This is all free service

I hope you found some thing of value

  5. Does it say "Monopoly Stock Certificate"? If so, probably not.
