  1. in order to get your pigeons to like you , try hand feeding them . i raised homing pigeons and had 2 fancy white fantails , at first the fans were really scared but after awhile of talking to them and hand feeding them they came around and started coming right up to me , as far as sexing them , the females have less color across the fleshy part of the beak up around the nostrils , usually they are white and the males tend to be pink or light red . also the male will show more when he is mature , dragging his tale and making deep cooing noises when he is interested in breeding or when the female is esterus and receptive. you may not have luck in breeding them as they are a harder pigeon to breed than the regular gray banded homing pigeon. Good luck its a great hobby and once your birds get used to you they will be alot of fun.

  2. Oh my god you're so lucky!!! I've always wanted one. Where did you buy them? Pigeons are very friendly and they usually don't bite. I think they will like you once they trust you. Hold your hand and feed them and hold them even if they are scare you will still have to do it. As for s*x, I think you'll have to take them back to where you buy them and ask the store. I think they can breed easily. Just buy some nest for them. They're soo cute!!!

  3. They're a bit spooked because you have them in a new loft area.  Fantails though are a fairly tame breed to start with.  Do you know if you have the standard Fantail http://www.centralfantailclub.com/ or the Indian Fantail? http://www.indianfantailclub.org/  While both are very tame breeds, you may need to provide larger accommodations for the Indian Fantails.

Okay: to get them to like you.  Move slowly around them.  You can just sit with them for a while.  Don't chase them.  When you feed them, let them start to take it from your hand as well.

As for their s*x, that is easier to tell when they are calm.  The male will start to coo and strut about the female.  You may have to trim the outer tail feathers to get fertile eggs.  Also, it helps if the birds have some blocks or perches to get off the ground when they mate, simply because they have so much feather that it's harder for the male to swing his tail underneath than it would be for a pigeon with just the normal 12 tail feathers.

I suggest that you contact the clubs I listed above on the links to get more info on your birds and how to breed and care for them.  Fantail breeders, of both Indian and standard Fans, are great folks.

They're more than willing to help a newcomer.
