  1. please state which country was your country of origin.

SOME countries do NOT allow dual citizenship.

check this list and see if your country allows dual nationality or not.

If they do NOT then you have  ALREADY LOST the citizenship you were born with and therefore you cannot use your original passport.

Also bear in mind that you MUST use the US passport to re-enter the USA at all times.

  2. You can have dual nationalities holding passports of 2 countries. Lots of people in US do: Asians, Mexicans, Israelists, Indians...

  3. You use your US passport to leave and enter the US.  You can use either your US passport or that of your birth for entry into your country of birth.  It will probably be better to use you original passport.  Dual citizens do this all the time.

Please note that this only works if your country of birth allows dual citizenship.

  4. You MUST use your US passport to enter or exit the US. Your country of origin may or may not have the same rule. You CAN (and may be required to) use your passport from your country of origin to enter and exit your country of origin. You must follow US laws regarding   your country of origin (special cases such as Cuba , etc.). If you use a passport from your country of origin you should not need a visa. Good Luck!

  5. If you are a US citizen, why is it that you say go back to my country I thought that you wanted to be an American and the USA your country. Once you become a citizen of the USA you should be an American and be part of it and if your are not well then resign citizenship and go back to your country. Good luck !!

  6. Use your US Passport.....period.  United States does not recognize dual citizenship, regardless of what other countries accept the practice or not.  For example, Spain accepts dual citizenship, but that's because it benefits Spain when prosecuting US citizens abroad who also claim citizenship in Spain.  Think about it!!

  7. I think it would be best to travel on your US passport.  Why would you want or need to use your other passport?

The US tolerates but doesn't encourage people having multiple passports.  So don't try to be too cute with your foreign passport.

  8. get one thing straight

if you are a US Citizen .... you are already in YOUR COUNTRY!!!

  9. you should of stayed in your country

  10. No.  As a US citizen you are required, by law, to enter and exit the United States using your US passport.  Using a foreign passport is considered a sign of intent to abandon your US citizenship.

  11. You asked a question in order to receive an answer. Don't even bother responding to those who only argue semantics concerning your wording. If you have two citizenships, then you can also have two "My Countries" regardless of what others say.

You do need to exit and enter the US on your US passport, this is a fact. Most others in your situation then enter the other country using their other passport. First of all, if you are still a citizen of the second country, you can't get a visa. Citizens cannot get a visa to travel into their own country, at least this is the rule in the States. When you check in at the airport for your flight to leave the US, you'll need to show your other passport, as you go through security and immigration, you need to show your US passport. When leaving the other country you need to check in for your flight using your US passport and then go through security and Immigration using your other passport. In other words; the airlines need to see that you have the right to travel to a different country before they will issue a boarding pass.

Something to be aware of though is that if you need the assistance of the US Embassy or Consulate while in the other country, the assistance that they can provide will be minimal due to the fact that you entered that country on a non US passport.
