I recently installed my stock radio with subs from a converter, and every now and then my subs cut off?

I wired my stock stereo from my rear speaker lines to a line out converter, and then to my amp then the amp to my subs. But every now and then either just one or both of my subwoofers will cut off. One of the wires on the converter looked shot, but it still worked but it may be the reason it's cutting off. Please help!
