  1. its best to get the started  now on where you want them to sleep,,,its best to crate train them at nite her even when your not home,,,make them feel comfortabe in the new sleeping place,,,,give them a stuff toy or a bone and make them like there new sleeping place

    hope this helps

  2. You can have him sleep downstairs.  What I recommend is that you go for a jog or a long walk... get VERY sweaty and use that shirt in the kennel or same room as the puppy.  So the puppy will become accustom to your smell and "latch" on to you.

    Good Luck

  3. Depends on why you got the dog.  I have mine because I love the nearness and the company.  I want him in my bed room and my bed if he choose to be there.  I certainly don't want him banished to another room.

Dogs are pack animals and they like to be with their packs. I am my dogs pack and you are your dogs pack.  Your call

If you plan is to put him downstairs then make him a comfy space and put him there.

  4. Have your puppy sleep in a crate wherever you want him to sleep.  Our bt puppy sleeps in my daughter's room in a crate.  My older bt sleeps under the covers with me.  We got our older bt at 9 mo. so he knew how to get on the bed and was house trained already.  It's just too dangerous to let the little one loose in the house while no one is available to see what he's doing.

  5. I would set up his kennel in your room for awhile until he gets a little older.  Yhat way if he has to potty during the night you will know.  Puppies are just like human babies, and need extra care just the same.  I just moved my 6 mo old GSD's kennel downstairs to the kitchen just recently and he's adjusted just fine

  6. Have him sleep now, where you want him to sleep for his adult life.  It will make everythign easier.

  7. Consistancy is the key with training dogs. The general rule is to teach the puppy what you want it to do as an adult right from the start. I would advise you keep him downstairs if that is where you want him to sleep as an adult, it will make it a lot easier on him and you. Enjoy your puppy!

  8. "It" and "make him" --- this is a living companion animal - not a thing - please, consider that this small puppy has feelings and is not an it - an object - just waiting for you to "make" him do what you want.

Try considering that it is young, alone, in a strange place, and have some care for the pup's fears and feelings.

Your quesiton just plain scares me for the future of the poor pooch.

To answer you, crate train the pup - that solves your problems as to what to do with "it" at night.
