  1. Pick up the books by David Sklansky ("Hold Em Poker", "Hold Em Poker For Advanced Players", and "Small Stakes Hold Em"), Doyle Brunson ("Super System"), and Dan Harrington ("Harring On Hold Em Vol I-III", "Harrington On Cash Games Vol I-II.")  Also pick up the book "The Psychology of Poker."  Study these volumes.  They are the defacto bibles of poker.

If you are playing online, most sites allow you keep histories of all your hands you played.  You should analyze these hand histories and determine if you are following the strategies outlined by the above books.  If not determine what you did wrong on a particular hand make adjustments to your play.

  2. just og onto the net and play. there is eve na yahoo versio of poker and it doesnt involve real money.

    hope this helped

  3. Read plenty of books and play the free online sites there you can gain experience.

  4. I started playing poker over at http://www.1betus.com/poker only playing with play money. They have these 'freerolls' that allow you to win money, so after a few of them under my belt, I began playing for real money there. After some losses, but more wins, I am now a regular there and they cut me a check each and every month.

  5. Here is a link to some free poker strategy that may help you out.

Practice! Experience is the best teacher, and as you get better, you must seek out higher levels of competitiion! In the short run, you may lose some money as you go into the higher level games, but in the long run, as you improve, you will find yourself winning more and more.

Try playing tournament poker, it is a great way to learn. Here is how to pick a tournament to play.

Luck is a factor in games where the chip stacks start low, the blinds go up fast and the intervals are short.

Skill is more of a factor when the chip stacks start high, the blinds go up slow, and the intervals are longer.

Pick games that require more skill than luck to play, get your experience that way and you will improve your game!

And here is a link to some sites where you can play for free, gain experience and still be able to win Prizes or CASH! And they are all USA legal, so you are protected by US law in the event of a dispute!
