  1. Smart move to get in the bathtub!  That's the first place you should go if by some chance you can't find a better spot.

If you're in a mobile home park, many have reinforced storm shelters.  If not, and you happen to have neighbors nearby, you may want to ask if it's possible that you can stay with them when bad weather hits. We used to do that because of our large basement.  Widget has it exactly right though--the debris is moving at such a high speed that it can easily kill you.

If you live in an area where tornadoes are common, you should make sure to take more precautions when a watch is issued as well. Have a good plan in place.

  2. You can always dig a ditch at the back of the property unless you are in a mobile home pk.Have a weather radio and keep it on and with you. This may sound trivial but it is a safe thing to do.I also live in a mobile home.We have two ditches, have never had to use either one although we have had many bad storms over the years.Storms are finicky brick and concrete do not make you any safer, although you may feel more secure there.God Bless You.

  3. Well your home is mobile...Just invest in a big truck with a hitch and drive that bad boy away...

  4. Hold on for dear life and pray!

  5. Well I would think the bath tub would be the place to go, yes.

  6. Its time to build a small hardened shelter. Either under ground or out of bricks.

Your worst enemy in a tornado is flying debris. So a bathtub is better than nothing but hardly good protection. You need something capable of stopping a bullet or a flying 2 x 4.

  7. I would strongly advise that you have a storm shelter built near your home.  These are typically built all or partially underground, and remind me of what my grandparents called a root cellar.

Hiding in your mobile home is probably not a very good option... have you seen what a tornado can do to one?!?

  8. Go into a windowless room, a closet or yes the bathtub.

If u have a crawl space and have time u could go there. But i would go to the closet or bathroom/tub first!

I hope u never have 2 use this info!! and i hope it does help when that time comes!
