the brakes felt funny. The dealer told me the rotors had warped from sitting on a lot for almost a year. Seems crazy to me! Also, my exhaust is rusted already. Help, sounds crazy for a new car with only 100 miles!!!

  1. hey i experienced this too!

my dad and i test drove 2 mazda's and on both the brakes felt funny like as the salesman said, they had rust on them for sitting so long on the lot. after we drove it (on a test drive) the brakes got better and better.

so i'd say the brakes are like that on the majority of them, but since its an 08 and it still is under warranty take it to your dealer and have them check the brakes out.

oh and make them do something about your rusted exhaust!

  2. hmmmm I think I would take it back and tell them to put me in something different

  3. Your exhaust is rusted because its steel and been sitting outside for 11 months.  Unpainted steel rusts but it doesn't mean there is anything wrong with it.  Its only surface rust.

Tell them to fix your brakes if they are warped.  They don't warp from sitting though.  They can warp if someone doesn't torque the wheels down properly though.  That's a real complaint and something is wrong.  If they just have some surface rust like the exhaust then its no big deal and will disappear the 1st time you use your brakes.

  4. It's not that the rotors warped, they rusted. Ever since brake pads were changed to semi metallic composite when sitting they will rust and if it's a lot vehicle and sat for a while there is probably a big rust spot on the rotor. I'd take it down the road at about 70 get on the brakes hard a couple times and it may take care of it. If not take it back. But then again thats me.

  5. Rotors don't warp from sitting on the lot.  Either the lugnuts were over torqued (very possible from the factory) or someone warped them while test driving the car.  The brakes can feel a little funny for other reasons as well.  Also it could have been something like the surface rust and the service dept. claimed turning the rotors to mazda to get paid to take the rust off.  May not have been a warped rotor.

As far as the exhaust, what part is rusted.  There are only a few parts that will rust, most are made from stainless steel or aluminized steel.  Some things like the secondary convertor and exhaust manifold can rust.

And just so you know.  Just because a car was built in sept 07 doesn't mean it was on the lot then.  Sometimes it can take months for a vehicle to ship from the factory to the dealers lot.

  6. take it back and ask if they an replace it with the same thing except newer one if ur that unhappy with it.

if its been sitting on a lot and it probably rained and the steel must've rusted!! and of course the rotors would have warped!! sitting on a car lot for almost a year... duh.

  7. Take it back let them solve the problem you shouldnt be going through that with a new vehicle
