Can I reclass without re-enlisting? Also, I recieved a 20k bonus. It was not for my MOS, it was the "quick ship bonus" granted to everyone who left for basic training during a certain time frame. Will I have to pay this back?

  1. no. typically you must re enlist before you can cross train.  they spent all that time and money training you as a 25B they will not let you go without getting their money's worth.

one year no way will they entertain the thought..probably half of that was spent in training anyway.

  2. Normally you'd have to wait till your window comes up (about half way through). Talk to a retention NCO, they should be able to answer your quesitons about that.

  3. You generally need at least 2 years in to reclass. And if your bonus was a "quick ship" bonus then no... You would not have to pay that back for reclassing.

  4. You'd have to start with the personnel folks.  I think the 25N is a new MOS and most of them will transfer from another MOS.

But as long as your MOS doesn't have a shortfall you might be able to pull it off.  But I'd bet you have to do at least 2 years before they even let you reclass.

Why don't you like the 25B?  It might just be the current assignment you are in that makes the job seem bad.
