I recently started dating a Marine...

Question

Everyone is saying "oh thats trouble", "oh, watch out for yourself", "don't let him overpower you, he's prbly extremely aggressive", etc etc. First of all, I reaaally enjoy his aggressive self, definitely in the bedroom, I highly doubt he'll start abusing me.(WTF?) I haven't really asked these people why they are saying these things. The best I can come up with myself is the difficulty it would be if he had to go to war. I'm aware of that, but if we ever got seriously committed, i'm sure long distance would work out fine.

Why would people say all of these negative things? Is there really something that bad about Marines that I'm not aware of? Good gracious, seriously.

Take your pick.  People are just ignorant as to what the military is really made up of or does on a daily basis.  For instance, when I joined the Army, all I ever heard was "ooo so you'll have to go like crawl around in the woods and eat bugs every day and stuff!"  People just do not know and do not care to seek the truth so they believe what ever sounds the craziest or worst.  It is human nature.  Just trust your instincts and listen to your own gut feeling.

I am not sure why Marines have been in scrutiny of aggressiveness and extreme assertiveness.  I've been a Marine for 10-years now, my wife divorced me because of my behavior; I know I was to fault!  I treated her very badly when I came back after 3 years of combat tour in Afghanistan and Iraq...I was gone that long, due to my job and undergone combat stress.  I don't understand the Marines' point of view on why the yare aggressive but I've known many outstanding Marines who came home beating their wives.  We don't mean it, it just happens.  I do not know why we do the things we do so therefore this is the only input I have to give.  Good luck and God Bless, tell your Marine 'Esprit de Corps' and Always be Faithful.

NOTE: Marines don't have the luxury to cheat like that yoohoo above stated, what would we cheat you women on, camels and goats?  We wouldn't have the time nor inclination, nor place!  My wife cheated on me when I was away because she said that she was lonely and missing me; obviously she was 'missing me' with another man!

PLUS:  Me and every other Marine considers a huge insult when they say that we join, just so we can kill!  I never had the intention to join so I can kill.  Obviously that sh-i-t for brains never served in the military!  Dipsh-i-t below me is included!  For those who never served in the Marine Corps sure think they are 'experts' about the Marines.

My answer goes along with rekondogs. while the public thinks he will cheat on you, the marines figure you will cheat on him. not saying you will, but its just the way things go. when a marine is out in the desert with a bunch of other dudes and some camel spiders, there isnt a whole lot of action.. i have seen marines come home and beat their wives, and i have seen marines come home and be the best husband and father a family could ask for. it really has to do with what type of person they were before they went in. but i think it is awesome you are dating one of the few and one of the proud. even though its the gfs, wives, and families back home that should get alot of the credit as well. oorah!

My boyfriend is a marine and what I've learned from hanging out in the barracks is that, just like everyone else, there are doueche bags and genuinely good guys. Not all are bad, not all are good. As long as your man treats you right, don't worry about what anyone says.

The strongest thing about the Marine Corp is their propaganda. The perpetuate the myths about how they are animals, killers and the best of the best. The truth is, they have a couple of weeks longer basic training and their hype is a bunch of Bull c**p. Don't pay any attention to it. Some people will believe anything and the fact is, Marines are nothing more than straight leg infantry.

Well im only in 9 grade, but I am not virgin. Marines are mean and they can't find Osam Bin Husein. Your marine will probably cheat on you when he is oversea in Afghaniraq and will be very bad Marine. In my opionion, you cant trust them.

well they are really different from lets say.. sailors, they joined the marines because they wanna go kill people, not cause they wanna learn something productive... every person is different.
