Of course, being the know-it-all I am, I assumed I knew all about birth control and how it worked. So after getting my prescription filled, instead of waiting until the 'Sunday after your next period' I took my first pill the first Sunday after receiving my pills. If i had followed the instructions correctly, I would just now be taking my first pill today, since today is when the first day of that period would've been. Now i'm not totally sure whats going on here, but i'm bleeding as if i've just started. I didnt think it was possible to have your period while taking the active hormone pills. I've been taking the pill for 15 days, taking the first dark blue one in the package today. What should I do? Should I continue taking the pills normally? or should I discontinue this package of pills, and begin taking them NEXT Sunday, as it would be the Sunday after my last period?

  1. You really should have waited and taken them when you were instructed to do so. It is nothing to worry about really it will be the extra hormones you are now taking that are causing these symptoms and it should all settle down fairly soon

  2. the same thing happened to me.. its normal for it to happen and u CAN start the pill when ever you want they just say to start that sunday b/c thats the first day ur 1st pill starts on but they also give you some sticker like strips the start on the different days.. anyways i was told that it could be b/c the dosage is too low and not enough estrogen hormone or your body just needs to get use to the amount of hormone being given out.

  3. Keep taking the pills as you already have. It is possible to get your period, or even ocassionally bleed without having your period, while on BC pills. I'm on the same kind of pills you are, and I still bleed. I also didn't wait like I should have, but things will get back to normal for you, just give it a little time.

  4. keep taking them how you are. you may have break through bleeding or spotting for a while. it may take about 3 months for your body to get on track with the pills. dont sweat it. you should of listened :P
