I recently upgraded my Pfaff

Question

I recently upgraded my Pfaff 2140 to a 2170. Now when I put in my embrodiery card with an alphabet it will not let me combine the letters as on the keyboard to make words to work with on the embroidery graph page. I have to embroider each letter individually. Very frustrating. It used to let me put words together before it went to the embroidery graph page.
