I recently upgraded my iron set(steel shaft the old ones were graphite)?

i noticed decreased yardage..before i could hit my 7 iron at 165 yards easy now it has gone down to 150, no matter how hard i try, i cant get it to go far like before.help!!!should i go back to my old graphite set?or simply switch the shafts of my new irons (s300) to regular flex iron shafts?

  1. I hit graphite shafts, steel shafts feel like,,,,,,err,,,,ahhh,,,steel.

    Most people do the opposite and go to graphite from steel.


  2. I would suggest that you visit your local PGA Professional and ask his / her advise and opinion.  There may be a simple explaination and solution.

  3. Well.. you've gave us some pretty obvious information that leads me to believe you don't have the swing speed that warrants the use of stiff flexed shafts.



    You don't possess the swing speed and tempo to load an S300 shaft properly, so you also don't unload (lack of kick) on your downswing.

  4. "normally" graphite shafts go longer with less control than steel shafts.  You may give up some distance but it's worth it for the accuracy.
