I recently wrote a story for my children and my husband suggested i get it published how do i do this?

i was told self publication was expensive so i dont want to down that route, i live in northern ireland if that helps, thanks.

ignore walker what does he know!!! what you need to do is actually contact a publishers look on the internet or in a book for a name then either contact them by phone or e mail they will ask to see your draft do not be put off by getting a first refusal because it is common that you get first knock backs and you shouldnt just contact one publisher quite a few will c

The very first step, and really the only important step for you, is to land an agent. After you get an agent, it's the agent's job to sell you and your story to a publishing house. (And they indeed will work hard for you, because they'll be soaking up a very good portion of your profits.) Don't even think abut self-publishing. Look up an agent.
