  1. he can do whatever he wants since hes your boss. you can't do anything about it, or you can quit

  2. If it was a mistake then they can take it back, just be glad they are not asking for the funds from the 4 payperiods back also.

  3. Yes, they can take it back, unless they are violating a contract, union rules, or other laws.

Most likely, it was an honest mistake on their part and in that case, they can reduce your pay and they can have you repay what they overpaid you.

  4. They can take back the 1.50 and only give you .50, but I don't think they can ask for money back that they've already paid you.

  5. If they only offered you the .50, and mistakenly gave you 1.50, then yes, they can take it back.  It was a mistake and is therefore not your money.

Those who think that they cannot take the $1.00/hr over the last 4 weeks are wrong.  Of course they can.  If a bank makes an error, you get a notice that tells you to adjust your balance.  It was not your money.  Same thing.  It was a clerical error, and it is not your money.

If giving it back causes you financial distress, ask them if they can just take it back over time.  Say that they do not give you the .50/hr for 8 weeks, that would have the same net.
