I recorded a video casette onto DVD, but it will only player on the DvD play i recorded it on?

I've tried playing it in a nomal DVD and laptop, but it isnt being recognised or it will come up as a blank disc

It sounds like you haven't finalised the disk in your recorder. The disk's in a state where you can record more data, but you can only use the original recorder.  There may be a "Tools" option on your recorder - time to read the manual :-)
