Why do some CD-R's play in some car stereo systems and not others? Is there a certain year when car manufacturers installed all CD players to be able to play CD-R's? Because a lot of people burn music onto CD's now, so you'd think most cars would be able to handle them. Are there blank CD's that you can buy that will play in any car CD player? If so, where can I find these. Thanks for info.

  1. Many cd players are not capable of reading the tracks off of what are called multi-session disks.  Your problem, I would guess, is that the music you recorded was recorded in such a way that you could later add to, delete, or otherwise modify what was on the disk--the whole purpose of using a CD-R after all.  However, because that option writes to the disk differently, some cd players cannot recognize the initialization pattern to enable them to recognize the data, and so cannot play it.

  2. What speed are you burning them at?  Try burning them at he slowest speed possible. Burning them slower makes darker marks on the cds that make them easier to read in regular stereos
