I recycle abandoned mobile homes, and I am trying to find an ecologically sound way to dispose of the glass. We recycle all of the usable materials, but I have several tons of glass and can't figure out what to do with it.

  1. Hello! I am currently working with our community to recycle our glass into roads materials. I am aware of a county in Washington state that has a very successful glass recycling program. They received a pulverize from a grant and now use this machinery to grind the glass into a gravel like sand texture which then goes back onto the roads as an ingredient in asphalt. You might check into this option by contacting your local roads dept. to see if they are interested. Good luck!

  2. I'm a glassblower......not that i could use it as raw material.....but once I had a lot of broken windows to dispose of, and I melted them down to a large sculpture.   Possibly a mold in a furnace/kiln.  Call the corning museum of glass...they may have a better idea, or details on making that work.

  3. Is the glass whole, in frames, or broken peices.

Look up glass recyclers for your stqate or area.

There may be projects that people could use whole intact windows in frames for, like small greenhouses, etc. Craig'slist might be a place to post and see if anyone can use it.

  4. check out fisher recycling in charleston - he might be turning the glass into countertops, flooring, mulch, etc.

  5. turn them into recycled greenhouses

  6. if its normal plate glass that has no paint or caulking on it take it to the recycling place and see if its recyclable

  7. I don't know about the glass, but I do have an old mobile home I'd like to recycle.  Where are you?  Mine is in southern Louisiana.  If you can't recycle it, do you know where I could find someone local who could?

  8. there is a place in corsicana, texas that is a glass crusher company, so if you have lots of glass, they might just buy it from you....i don't remember the name of it...

  9. If the glass is in good condition, I suggest you contact Pelegano Stained Glass Studio in the north end of Cheshire.  Stella would probably be thrilled with it, and would probably be able to use it for her stained glass wedding invitation frames and the like.

  10. From experince I can tell you that no household waste disposal site in hull or east riding will accept window glass as a recyclable material.
