Question:

I recycle everything in my life that can be recycled. Does it really get recycled? Where does it go?

I do 'my part.' I feel less guilty when I put most of my garbage in the recycling bin...all papers, plastics, glass, etc. I try to reuse my glass containers to store my 'bulk item' foods in.

But, where does the recycling go? I was told it might not really get recycled...it might actually get thrown away? Who sorts it? Who buys it? Who uses it? When too much stuff is mixed in the recycling, like garbage that some people throw in, does it really get sorted? Just wondering?

Peace, PaCRat!

  1. Well, most of it gets recycled.  Things that may be dirty from food or other things usually get washed off with water then paper gets bleached and made into another paper product.  Plastic gets made into recycling bins and sold to companies who use it for their products.  So, most of the things you recycle get reused.  Keep Recycling.

  2. Who picks up your recycling bins? Ask that company or your local government.
