I rejected many European and Turkish clubs for Inter Milan, says Diego Forlan – Serie A Update

Forlan arrived at San Siro during the last week of the summer transfer window from the Spanish outfit Atletico Madrid.
The Uruguayan international rejected offers from multiple clubs throughout Europe as he had a wish to be a part of the Nerazzurri squad. Moreover, the striker was keen to play in the Italian top flight so he opted for Inter.
The striker was recently talking to a Uruguayan radio station, where he said:
“A lot of teams were interested in me, but I just wanted to join Inter. I had requests from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/America-c38390 started. I was close to Turkey, but I decided to take my time,
wait until after the Copa America to see what could occur. I really wanted to play in the Italian championship.”
Inter recently suffered from the departure of their star striker Samuel Eto’o, who left to join the Russian outfit Anzhi. This is when Forlan’s move to San Siro materialized. However, the Nerazzurri overlooked the fact that Forlan had already played for
Atletico Madrid in the UCL qualifying rounds and he will not be allowed to appear for any other outfit in the group stages of the UCL.
Although the striker has his name in the squad lists sent to UEFA by the Inter officials, he will be on the sidelines only and this is a cause of great disappointment for the hitman.
“I’m angry that I can’t feature. I’m just hoping that we qualify from the group stage and that I then can be available for February,” said the 32-year-old forward.
Forlan made his debut as a Nerazzurri on September 11 against US Palermo in an away game that Inter lost 4-3. Forlan scored a late goal for the Serpent in the 90th minute to close the goal difference in the away fixture.
