  1. Not much you can do at 12 years old.  Sorry, but you live with your parents and must comply.  All you can do is keep asking and tell them you would like to take the lessons etc.

  2. Why don't you get your parents to go with you out to the place you want to jump at.  Have them talk to the instructors and have the instructor explain how it will work.  Usually when you start jumping, it is not over big fences.  I think once your parents understand the way it will work, they may be more apt to do it.  If you can get them out to talk to the people, you can probably get your way on this one.

  3. Talk to your parents and ask them what they are worried about. Have them sit and talk with the people from the place you want to jump. Invite them to watch you ride, possibly cantering over ground poles or trotting small cross rails.

It's possibly that they see you aren't secure in your riding or experienced enough to handle what you want to do.

(Experience is not measured in years, it's measured in knowledge. I was riding for 10 years before I finally learned how to ride)

  4. asks for a body protector if you dont have one.

show them how much it would mean to you to jump.

I first jumped when i was 10 and it was tiny you dont really feel it just like trotting poles they will increase as the time goes on explain this to them and show them beginner jumps on the internet or something.

    Good luck.

  5. hey i know someone whos mom is like that you just have to show them all of the safety stuff. btw i used to jump all the time

  6. I'm 12 too and I've been jumping since i was oh i don't know 7. at first my mother was scared to death something would happen to me. but i said these very words to her "Mom, if you don't let me do this, how will I ever know what it was like or experience something like this ever again? How can you stomp on my dreams if you haven't even seen them in the works? You always tell me to follow my dreams and this IS my dream!! Mama please??" and she fell to the floor crying with a smile on her face and now I'm riding dutch warmbloods over 5 foot jumps. Go for it and don't hold back. this is YOUR dream. and you have a great opportunity at your doorstep!!! consider yourself extremely lucky!! by the way you can email me anytime! if you ever want some help with anything... =)

  7. thats great that u have been riding but b sure u kno all the basics of riding horses first. convince your family to let you take lessons with a trainer and the trainer will help you slowly progress to jumping. theres not much to worry about because your not going to be jumping 3 feet first off. u will have to work hard and practice ground poles and your balance.

but b serious with your family and let them kno this is wat u want to do.

  8. if your instructor etc thinks your ready to jump the do so! its up to you. I was jumping on the circuit when i was 7, but i suppose my parents are very horsey anyway! i was hunting by the age of 4 on a little welsh pony... so if your up for the challenge then go for it. If your family dont like it then sorry but they do have some say because they probably pay for the lessons etc. Also, ask them why they dont want you to jump... it may be related to something they watched on tv or a family member getting hurt etc. If you can persuade them to let you go, tell them that they can come and watch you... and that you'l wear a back protector etc. Just go for it!

  9. Ask your parents to check the place out and talk with a trainer. I'm sure it will put their minds at ease. Plus, it's not like you start out jumping large jumps. You start with ground work and cavelletti.

  10. Hi i allready answered the other one of this and im 12 too and have been riding since i was 6. Oh what stable do u go to?? just wondering to check the website out?

Exusme!!!!!! But fist person who answered is rude and i jump and canter so yea its not a wast in time ur ready dont lision to that guy.

ok so i cant find the website but maybe ask ur instructer some question and maybe u can convince ur fam to let u from a perfessional.

other than that im not shure cuz my parents just let me didnt even argue and u start on really little jump and u have to get the flat work down pacted.

Oh also do u know how to canter??

and how long hav u been riding

do u know why they wont let u jump??

  11. i would just jump and show them that you can jump... but that would be me and i am a total daredevil and i do the exact opposite of what my parents say!

good luck and i hope that everything works out for you!
