He stated that every team undergoes different phases and that such notions should
not be considered a matter of pride.
According to the Spanish international, Barca have no right to project an image of themselves as a team which only supports and promotes home grown talent. He stressed that they are only experiencing a phase in which a lot of talent has come out of La Masia.
La Blaugrana were recently found voicing their pride in La Masia as the youth academy has prospered greatly over the past years. The academy received particular praise as the Catalan giants recently secured a remarkable victory over Levante with players
only from the Masia.
The Spanish La Liga encounter saw the Spanish giants emerge victorious with a score of 4-0 with all 11 men being graduates of the youth academy.
Consequently, a lot attention was given to this feat as the Spanish media was left amazed in the awe of youngsters being able to play football with such brilliance.
As a result, Casillas has decided to voice his scorn in response to all the hype created about in the Catalan capital as he is a player who remembers when things were strenuously different.
“Barca cannot go around bragging that they have produced 11 canteranos,” Casillas told La Sexta.
“I also remember http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 of 11 or 12 years ago, when the team practically had no canteranos. This goes in spurts, they are stages.
“Of course, it is what they have in mind now, and it is the slogan that they want to communicate most, but a few years ago, they didn't have canteranos; Puyol, Xavi and a few others.”
Notable graduates of La Masia include, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gerard-c14664 Pique among others. All of these players have managed to make a great impact over the modern game.
