I've scraped about 200 vinyl asbestos tiles from my floor (they were breaking into pieces...) so the asbestos did get out...

Am I in serious danger?

  1. I see you've posted this question in different categories...

Asbestos is most dangerous as a dust.  Asbestos dust particles can get into your lungs, and cancer may develop, after several years.

Asbestos removal, is required, by most states, to be done by licensed technicians, and must be disposed of as a hazardous waste material.  This all requires special permits.  So... if you do actually have asbestos tiles... you probably broke some laws by scraping it up yourself... and I hope you haven't disposed of it yet.

The only way to know for certain though, is to have it tested.

As I stated in the other posted question, some commercial quality vinyl tiles have fiberglass to reinforce them, and should not be confused with asbestos products.

Here is a link you may find helpful, and again, I'd suggest having the a tile sample tested, before you do anything else -

    Good Luck
