I removed wallpaper in the bathroom and it left the wall uneven what is the best way to repr it for new paper?

  1. First sand the walls. Then prime. This will keep any paste residue from reacting to joint compound. After primer is dry, use lightweight joint compound to patch areas.Lightweight compound shrinks less and dries faster than all purpose. Apply in thin coats. You will want to remove any ridges in dried compound with putty knife before applying next coat. Each coat should extend beyond edges of previous coat. The secret to a good job is to build up thin smooth coats. You will have much less sanding to do, and the dust will be far less as a result. Make sure you turn off the AC before sanding or you'll have it all over the house. After sanding, spot prime patched areas with primer and you're ready to paint or re wallpaper.
