I went to go under the building but the clearance was to low and I caused some damage to the building but no damage to the Uhaul. I don't think my auto insurance will cover it. Will the building insurance cover it or will I have to pay out of pocket.

  1. You pay for the damage.  Good luck!

  2. It depends if it was a Uhaul trailer or a Uhaul truck. With a trailer, the insurance you're buying on it covers comprehensive and collision damages. Liability on a trailer extends from the vehicle towing it, so whatever you have for liability limits on your vehicle should cover the damage.

If you rented a Uhaul truck, then you'll have to check with your insurance company about how things work in your state. On rentals, you're often covered. Depending on where you're living, you might have the same limits as the vehicle you own with the highest coverages.

I'd suggest talking with your insurance company. They can't put in a claim without your permission, so it doesn't hurt to ask. Good luck.

  3. You will be paying. The vehicle was in your control and your negligence caused the damage.

It is possible that you have a clause in your auto insurance policy that covers rental cars but most likely not commercial vehicles.

It was not the building fault that you hit it so make sure you look for those clearance signs next time.

  4. your car insurance will cover it . my friend rolled a uhaul and his car insurance covered it

  5. If you paid for the Uhaul rental with a credit card, sometimes they will pay for the damage.  I know that American Express does this.

  6. Check with your insurance company, if you rented the uhaul with out there ins, then you must be covered by your own. if you are than your covered. just pay your deductable, and dont forget the police report.
